I realize that there were always difficult discussions. But that were immensely productive meetings. All friends, inspired of spirit of Birgitta, found acceptable solutions. I recogniced doing something for the public, always brought the greatest profit for me! Necessary is truth and a honest and benevolent behavior. It needs courage, power and endurance. In a distressed condition I feel in consence with the great reformer: "Here I stand, I cannot otherwise, God help me." This is spiritual quite the same, as "Lord show me the way and make me willing to follow it." (GG)

The Birgitta Order

On the basis of the results of the last symposia, we should be able to begin a dialogue with the Churches, the Orders and of course with the people. It is not only to name the problems, but also to point out important causes, facts and possibilities. This takes a lot of courage, but even more sensibility. We must be aware that this task cannot be pushed from year to year.

The churches in the Postmodernism

The thesis that believe and knowledge should be contradictory is a widespread, but otherwise stupid way of talking. Believe and knowledge belong together just as piety and education. Faith and education are human needs. In the outgoing Middle Ages Birgitta had have excellently understood it, how to use personal believing, strength, intuit and conviction, to exhort high political and ecclesiastical deciders (Jörg-Peter Findeisen). What can the Church do to avoid a "post ecclesial Christianity" as it is predicted by Rupert Lay S.J.?

The cultural imprint of the people around Birgitta monasteries

The early years of the SBE have shown that there is a special spirit in the various places with Birgittian tradition. This is expressed by the fact that at least a core of members and friends has a lasting interest in each other. This spirit of community in the faith, in the assessment of political and economic developments, should be signified and developed in dialogue.

Mission or Ecumenism?

What is the task of the church institutions, of Bonifatius Werk, St. Ansgar Werk, the Department World Church of the Ordinaries and of the Evangelistic Missionswerk?

International cultural work without institutional control

International associations on private initiative have a difficult position. Should one try to work without a plea from the state and the church on the basis of their own knowledge and conviction? Or is it the better way to cooporate with the church, the state and the parties to influence these institutions so that effective work becomes possible? Is it necessary to take influence on the church? What quality will faith be without a church?

Many people are interested in international cultural, scientific and spiritual (religious) exchange. Access to libraries, higher education, international studies are difficult and expensive. How can modern information technology help? Can an organization like SBE benefit from this? What decisions does such a company have to make? How can the results be made transparent and made available to society as a whole? Can our association use a social network like WhatsApp? Is it necessary to make concessions in order to be able to survive for a long time.

 An association that has no problems does not exist.
An association that has only problems will also not exist longer.
